My name is Darren Staley, Quality Assurance Director for Life Alliance. I have been with the company almost three years. I have a Bachelor of Science degree from St. John's University. Born and raised in Wilkes County, I also have also lived in Elkin and Charlotte.
I think by now I have met with most of you. Probably more so in North Wilkesboro because that is the closest office to my house and I spent a lot my time there, especially in the beginning. Now and in the future I plan to make a concerted effort to be in each office at least once per week.
A lot of what I do is kind of behind-the-scenes. Rules and regulations in this field are vast and constantly changing. A big part of my job is to make sure we are in compliance and find ways to stay in compliance without placing additional burdens the individuals we serve, their families, and our employees. In many cases my hands are tied, but I always try.
Another big aspect of my job is to gather information regarding how to provide services in the most clinically appropriate manner and advocate for issues that are important to you. I am a voting member of the Smoky Northern Regional Collaborative and the Smoky Provider Council. I am a member of the Partners Provider Council, Partners Innovations Stakeholder Committee, and the I/DD co-chair of the Partners Global Continuous Quality Improvement Committee.
When you guys send in those annual satisfaction surveys that sometimes seem pointless I'm sure, I read every one, tabulate them, and then begin a Quality Improvement Project when any line item on that survey gets an aggregate score of less than 90%. If it is an internal issue, we try our best to resolve it internally. If it is a system-wide issue, I take these concerns to the councils and committees to try and find resolution.
Again, sometimes my hands are tied, but your voices are being heard. Even outside of that process, I have been and always will be available to assist with individual concerns. Usually it is in the form of the Qualified Professionals or Administrative staff relaying them to me and me relaying information back, but you are always welcome to contact me directly.
That's what I do, but it pales in comparison to what you all do. And by you all I mean the individuals we serve, their families, the employees. You are the real deal, in terms of strength and courage in the face of adversity. There are very few people in this world who can even fathom the challenges you face on a daily basis. They may appreciate and respect it, but they can never understand it the way you do.
It is an honor for me to do my very best to help give you guys the support you need in whatever way I can.

Hi, my name is Jennifer Moretz and I have been with Life Alliance, LLC since April 1, 2013. I have been in the Human Services field for 19 years. I graduated from Appalachian State University in 1998 with a degree in Social Work. Throughout my career, I have worked with individuals with mental illness, substance abuse, and developmental disabilities.
It has always been my passion to help individuals. If a day goes by and I haven’t made someone smile I feel as if it is a day wasted. My goal in life is to help in any way I can to make the lives or situations of other individuals easier.
My time so far has been extraordinary with Life Alliance; and I hope I can stay with this agency for many years to come (and/or indefinitely). Life Alliance goes far and beyond the call of duty to make sure all staff, employees, consumers, and families are happy and have what they need!! I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to become a part of the family called Life Alliance. I could not be happier!

My name is Andrew Larson and I’m from Freeport, IL which is in northern Illinois about two hours west of Chicago. I graduated from Northern Illinois University (GO HUSKIES!) in DeKalb, IL with a B.A. in Psychology. I originally went to school to become an elementary school teacher, however it wasn’t until I signed up for a class, Disabilities in Society, that I decided to change majors and pursue a degree in psychology. After graduating, I took a job with a company named DD Homes Network in Illinois that served developmentally disabled adults. I was a QIDP (Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional) for two group homes within this company. My first group home was an ICF which housed 16 individuals and then the second group home was a CILA which housed 8 individuals. I did everything from helping run programs, administer medications, speak and meet with doctors and specialists, fill in for staff when needed, and hire and train staff. I worked for those individuals for two years before I decided to move in November of 2015 to Charlotte, NC. I worked for UPS while I was searching for a job within the Human Service field with the DD population. That’s when I received a call for an interview with Life Alliance LLC for their Qualified Professional position and was excited to have received a call back with an offer of employment. I accepted the position and have been with Life Alliance LLC since March of this year and couldn’t be happier with this company and the role I have participating in the aid of developmentally disabled individuals. While I do miss the staff and individuals from the group homes back in Illinois, I can say that I am ecstatic to be where I am, working with the people I do, and the possibilities ahead of me. I look forward to working with many families and consumers in the community. Please feel free to call me at (704) 872-8335 or visit me at our office at 924 Davie Avenue, Statesville, NC.
